AR Boosts Sports Crowd Engagement

Interactive communication agency Innovae Vision of Spain teamed with Total Immersion to produce spectacular interactive entertainment for the Spanish Basketball Federation and its sponsors San Miguel and Endesa.

In the run up to the 2012 Olympics, spectators were treated to a new kind of match-break entertainment. Crowd members could find themselves up on the big screens with their faces replaced by those of star players. Later on in the match, members of the crowd who were lucky enough to catch sponsored shirts were invited to come on down and take part in an augmented game of virtual basketball for fun and prizes — ranging from exclusive official sportswear, an electric scooter, and even a year's supply of beer.

It's not every day you can win free beer for a year thanks to AR!
